ARCHITECTURE OFFERINGS

Enterprise architecture that holds up past the roadmap review.

TEKMentors’ Architecture practice helps organizations define, simplify and govern the technology architecture that underpins their transformation agenda, spanning strategy, data, applications, security and now AI, connecting every layer directly to business objectives, with the governance to keep that connection intact as the organization scales.

Strategy & roadmap

Technology roadmap definition

We design comprehensive technology roadmaps that map an organization’s information assets, systems, data and processes to its stated business goals, giving leadership a single, defensible view of where the technology estate needs to go and why.

Enterprise architecture strategy

We assess the current-state architecture against business objectives and industry patterns, then define the target-state vision, principles and framework, using TOGAF and ArchiMate where a formal methodology adds rigor, and a lighter-weight approach where speed matters more.

Technology trends & business alignment

We evaluate current technology trends (cloud-native architecture, microservices, serverless and adjacent patterns) against your specific business objectives, and recommend adoption only where it advances a defined outcome.

Solution & platform architecture

Solution & application architecture

We design the application architecture itself (service boundaries, domain models, API contracts) so individual solutions stay coherent with the broader enterprise architecture rather than becoming one more silo to integrate later.

Data architecture

We design data models, data platforms and data governance structures, relational, event-driven and increasingly vector/semantic, so data is trustworthy, discoverable and reusable across the systems and AI workloads that depend on it.

Integration & API architecture

We design the mediation layer that connects everything else (API gateways, event-driven integration, service mesh), handling routing, security, validation and transformation in one governed layer instead of scattered point-to-point connections.

Cloud-native & platform architecture

We design containerized, Kubernetes-orchestrated reference architectures (service mesh, sidecar proxies, infrastructure as code) built for the scalability and portability enterprise workloads need across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

AI-enabled architecture

AI is no longer a separate workstream bolted onto enterprise architecture. It has to be designed in from the start, with the same rigor applied to every other layer. This is where TEKMentors’ consulting and AI practices meet.

AI & agentic reference architecture

We design reference architectures for LLM and multi-agent systems (model selection and orchestration, RAG and retrieval layers, context and memory management, and integration with enterprise systems of record such as ERP, CRM and data platforms) built to be reusable across use cases rather than reinvented per project.

AI governance, observability & responsible AI

We embed governance into the architecture itself (traceability, explainability and human-in-the-loop controls for every agent action) alongside the observability (logging, evaluation, drift detection) needed to run AI systems in production with the same confidence as any other enterprise platform.

AI/ML platform & MLOps architecture

We design the platform layer that takes models from experimentation to production (versioning, evaluation pipelines, deployment and monitoring) so AI capability scales as a managed platform, not a collection of one-off notebooks.

Security & governance

Security architecture

We design security into the architecture, not around it: data security, identity and access, application security and compliance requirements addressed as first-class architectural concerns, including the additional risk surface AI and agentic systems introduce.

System and process simplification

We assess systems and processes across the estate to identify where complexity can be reduced, improving efficiency, maintainability and total cost of ownership without disrupting operational continuity.

Architecture governance

We define governance processes aligned to the architecture and roadmap we help establish (decision rights, review cadences and standards) structured to be owned and operated by your teams, including governance for AI and agentic systems as they move into production.

Technology thought leadership

Our architects participate directly in client architecture forums, bringing an external, pattern-informed perspective to design reviews, technology selection and standards decisions.

FOUR PHASES

Our approach

Assess

Evaluate the current architecture, systems, data and delivery practices, including AI/ML maturity, against business objectives and industry patterns.

Design

Define the target-state architecture across strategy, data, application, integration, security and AI layers, and the roadmap to reach it.

Govern

Establish governance processes, decision forums and standards, including AI and agentic governance, aligned to the roadmap.

Embed

Participate in ongoing architecture forums to keep the roadmap current as the business, technology and AI landscape evolve.

CASE STUDY

Technology roadmap for a top-3 bank in Kenya

Client context

A leading Kenyan bank, following its merger with a digital-first banking entity, was operating on rigid, fixed-capacity infrastructure with an application architecture built around delivery channels rather than customer experience. Outdated engineering and delivery practices had left the bank with a longer speed-to-market than digital-native competitors, a critical gap at the exact moment the merger demanded the opposite.

Our engagement

Target banking model

We defined a layered target-state architecture spanning an omni-channel front end, a business service integration layer, real-time predictive analytics, a core transactional layer (accounts, deposits, payments, credit), a decoupled data layer, and a lean governance layer, deployed on hybrid cloud/on-premise infrastructure with logging, monitoring and security as cross-cutting concerns.

Service architecture

We designed a multiexperience channel layer, an API mediation layer handling monitoring, security, routing, validation and transformation, and a multigrained services layer organized by business domain, technology generation, deployment environment and ecosystem boundary, enabling incremental migration rather than a single high-risk cutover.

Runtime architecture

We specified a containerized, Kubernetes-orchestrated runtime with service-mesh sidecar proxies, routing mobile, web and partner traffic through micro-gateways into a governed, observable application layer, with DevOps and automation, monitoring/analytics, security and governance run as dedicated platform layers.

Outcome

A technology roadmap and reference architecture specific enough for the bank’s own architecture review board to govern against: not a strategy document, but an operating model.

ENQUIRE

Talk to an architect.

Bring the roadmap, the estate or the AI initiative that needs an architecture behind it. A consultant replies, not a queue.

Takes about a minute. A real person reads it and gets back to you.
